on the other hand, i gotta say i sort of sympathize with their cause. thailand is definitely a country of gross wealth inequalities, and the rule of the so-called "amart" (bureaucratic elite) has to change. yet again, a majority of the reds support the ousted prime minister thaksin shinawatra (you could call him the "berlusconi of southeast asia"). this guy is the archetype of a corrupt and greedy capitalist, and he really rode the country into the shit.
if i understand OG kim correctly, you are firmly on the side of the current ruling elite. i'm not saying this is the wrong side or anything. let me just say, that thailand cannot go on like it is. and when the king dies it will be a whole bloody mess. that's what i'm scared of.
for now, i just mind my own business, cause i cannot really begin to understand the intricacies of thai politics. from my limited understanding it seems that all sides to the conflict have their hands dirty...

Actually It is just because he used to lend them money when he was Prime Minister .
I don't know exactly the rate but it was a very interesting one.Put simply , a thai familly was allowed to borrow 20000 baht by year and had to give back 21000 baht. I saw that when i was living in a small village near NONG KHAI in ISSAN.
that is a reason why Thaksin has got a lot of supporters among the low class people.
